There is a whole world of opportunity waiting out there for you, but where do you start? Whether you are looking for your first job, a change in career direction, or returning to work, finding a job can sometimes seem like a daunting task.

CV Tips


An effective CV must provide a concise, accurate summary of your qualifications, skills and experience. Its layout, design and wording will play a key part in getting you selected for an interview.

  • Use the chronological  format where all details are presented in reverse date order, most recent first.
  • Have a brief profile abourt yourself at the beginning.
  • List and qualify achievements for each role.
  • Do not leave date gaps between jobs.
  • Prioritise tasks at each role.
  • Use bullet points to emphasise relevant information.
Interview Tips


Various research has shown that interviewers form 80% of their opinion of you in the first four minutes of the interview, so its important to dress and behave appropriately.

  • Prepare for the interview by reading through the job description, doing some research on the company and understanding your CV.
  • Answer questions clearly and concisely, using examples when appropriate.
  • Smile, this will help you and the interviewer relax.
  • Being enthusiastic helps the interview know that you are interested in the role.
  • Confidence will help you sell yourself and the skills that you have.
  • Questions for the interviewer will help you evaluate the company and the role available.
